John, and his wife Sandra, came to Hong Kong in 1987 and arrived at Repulse Bay Baptist church in 1995, having served at a church in Pokfulam for over 7 years. RBBC became the Vine Church andJohn retired from AXA Insurance in 2003 to become a founding senior pastor . They have made Hong Kong their family home and are committed to staying here. They demonstrate pastors' hearts for the city and are respected in many of the Chinese and international churches throughout Hong Kong. They have been widely used in the areas of unity, evangelism and personal prayer ministry. Having stepped down as senior pastor to become an ambassador for the Vine in 2013, John took up his current assignment with EFCC Kong Fok in 2016. He completed his Doctor of Ministry at Bethel Bible Seminary in 2018, his dissertation focussing on Hong Kong’s local millennials. With two sons and five grandchildren, John serves in a number of HK mission and charity boards including Alpha, YMCA, Movement Day, Branches of Hope, Care for Children and Family First. He is a popular speaker across HK churches and globally, with a heart to see unity across churches, denominations and generations
